Gordon McBean Head of Capital Market
Heading the new Capital Markets Division is industry veteran Gordon McBean, CFA, who will oversee research, institutional
sales, and investment banking. Prior to joining Euro Pacific in July, Mr. McBean was Director of Research at Roth
Capital Partners in Newport Beach, CA. While at Roth, McBean built a research team widely acclaimed as a leader in
growth stocks, with a particular emphasis on China. He was also responsible for setting up Roth's operations in China,
and was based in Shanghai for the majority of 2006 and 2007. A native of Scotland, Gordon McBean he has been in the
securities industry for 20 years and served in various capacities Lehman Brothers, Wells Fargo Van Kasper and Friedman,
Billings, Ramsey. He received his B.A. in Business Economics from Paisley University in Scotland and is a CFA
Charterholder. He is a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of Orange County.
Gordon resides in Newport Coast, California with his wife and three children. He holds FINRA 7, 63. 24, 86 and 87 licenses.
John Calicchio Capital Markets
John Calicchio has been a securities industry executive for over 20 years. He brings to Euro Pacific extensive industry knowledge in compliance, sales, and trading from both the buy and sell side. Prior to joining Euro Pacific, Mr. Calicchio was Senior Vice-President of Equity Capital Markets at The Seidler Companies and Director/NASDAQ Trading at UBS Securities in Stamford, CT. Prior to that, he was Managing Director-Capital Markets at Roth Capital Partners in Newport Beach, CA. He received his BBA in Political Science from the University of Miami, FL and holds an MBA in Finance from Pepperdine University.
He holds FINRA 6, 7, 24, 55, and 63 licenses.
David Kratochvil Research Analyst
David Kratochvil has over fifteen years of investment experience ranging from developed and emerging market equity,
fixed income, and currency investing to commodity and venture capital investing. Prior to joining Euro Pacific Capital,
Mr. Kratochvil ran his own advisory firm where he provided investment banking services and consulted on various
investment projects. Previously he was an international portfolio manager at Omega Advisors where he invested in
international equities, emerging market debt, currencies, and commodities. Prior to joining Omega, he was a Director at
Merrill Lynch Asset Management in London where he was responsible for emerging market investing. Mr. Kratochvil has
also worked as an equity analyst covering basic materials and industrial stocks, as a venture capitalist in Eastern
Europe, and as a tax consultant advising on numerous M&A, real estate, and oil and gas transactions.
Mr. Kratochvil holds an MBA in finance and international business from the University of Chicago's Graduate School of
Business and a B.S. in Economics from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Thomas Tan CFA, Research Analyst
Thomas Tan brings a broad range of skills and experience to Euro Pacific Capital. Thomas has focused on the precious metals and mining sectors since 2004 becoming a popular independent blogger, writer and contributor for many financial and precious metal websites. Thomas gained particular notoriety on Seeking Alpha for his 2007 prediction of the collapse of the banking industry and the impending disastrous impact brewing in the credit default swap market. Thomas has developed close relationships with senior management at numerous mining companies but never allows those relationships to get in the way of his investment opinions. Some of Thomas' articles have been published by CFA Institute and have also been treated as Headline News and Editor's Picks by Seeking Alpha. Prior to joining Euro Pacific, Thomas worked in various corporate finance positions with Pfizer in the financial planning and analysis area. Prior to that, he was an associate in the Capital Markets Group at Cargill, responsible for structuring a 144A private placement of $100 million corporate bond in the US for a Chinese municipal hi-tech land development company.
Mr. Tan holds an MBA in finance from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University and has held the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation since 2004. He holds FINRA 7, 63, 86 and 87 licenses.
Gerald Mars Capital Markets
Mr. Mars began his professional career with Martin Werbelow, LLP, a public accounting firm in Pasadena, CA. He has spent the last eleven years providing investment banking services for small cap and middle market companies. During this time, he has played an instrumental role in numerous corporate finance and advisory transactions such as initial public offerings, private placements of equity and debt, buy and sell side mergers and acquisitions, recapitalizations, fairness opinions and business valuations. His clients have covered various industries including, but not limited to, building and consumer products, retail, healthcare, restaurants, food & beverage, and technology & software. Mr. Mars has worked for such firms as Barrington Associates, a division of Wells Fargo Securities, Global Hunter Securities and Roth Capital Partners.
He continues to maintain an active Certified Public Account license with the State of California. He also holds the Certified Valuation Analyst professional designation and the Series, 7, 24, & 63 with FINRA. He is a member of the Association for Corporate Growth, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts. Mr. Mars graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting.
