Why would some of the world’s most highly paid speakers come to a conference at their own expense?

July 5-7, 2007 at Bally’s/Paris Resort, Las Vegas
Where Will You Be on 7-7-7?
Dear friends,
Hello, this is Mark Skousen, editor of Forecasts & Strategies, and a regular speaker at the Money Show.
Last week I received a telephone call from one of the world’s most successful entrepreneurs. His name is John Mackey, CEO of Whole Foods Market. In a short 20 years, he turned a small grocery store in Austin, Texas, into a gigantic “natural foods” phenomenon. My wife and I frequently make it a date to shop and even dine at the Whole Foods store in Manhattan, it’s so much fun.
I had sent John an invitation to speak at FreedomFest. He told me, “Mark, I turn down hundreds of invitations to speak each year, but FreedomFest is one I’d pay to attend. I wouldn’t miss it!” John will speak on “My Personal Philosophy of Self-Actualization: How I Turned a Money Loser Into a $9 Billion-Dollar Company.”
In addition, he will be in the “debate room” to discuss “Stakeholder Philosophy: Socially Responsible or Irresponsible?” with James O’Toole (Aspen Institute), Albert Meyer (Bastiat Capital), Steve Milloy (Free Enterprise Action Fund). John will also participate in a session on FLOW, his new “Peace through Commerce” outreach program on college campuses.
John Mackey has created a new brand of “conscious capitalism” that is revolutionizing business and our standard of living. And now you have a chance to hear him in person.
Why would a conference engender so much enthusiasm? Because FreedomFest is the most intense, rewarding, intellectual, create-your-own 3 day conference you will ever attended.
This year’s FreedomFest is scheduled for July 5-7, 2007 at Bally’s/Paris Resort in Las Vegas. Make it an unforgettable weekend. 7-7-7 in Las Vegas!
7 themes, 77 speakers, and over 777 like-minded attendees
There's never a dull moment at FreedomFest. We offer seven sessions simultaneously, including discussions and debates about philosophy and history, arts and entertainment, public policy and geo-politics, science and technology, economics and finance, and law and religion. We offer an exhibit hall, Laissez Faire Books (our official bookstore), several cocktail parties, lunches, and to top it all off, an incredible never-to-be-forgotten 7-7-7 Gala Banquet on Saturday night.
John Mackey isn’t the only big name who is anxious to attend FreedomFest. Another is Nassim Taleb, a market wizard who graduated from the Wharton School. Several years ago, Nassim wrote a book that has created a cult following. “Fooled by Randomness” continues to be a bestseller, and Nassim is overwhelmed with requests to speak at major corporate events and top universities (he recently spoke at Columbia and Yale).
A friend had told him about my unique conference FreedomFest and he called me. “I get over 140 requests every year to speak for big bucks, but I’d be willing to pay all my expenses and speak at FreedomFest.” He will be speaking on his new book, “Black Swan: How We Can Predict What Really Matters.” Plus Nassim will debate George Gilder in the “debate room” on his random investment theory.
Ted Nicholas, the world’s top marketing guru, wrote me and said he and his wife were coming back to FreedomFest. “We love it!” He will do a special 2-hour seminar on “17 Life Changing Success Secrets.”
Of course, not every speaker comes at his own expense. We do have a small budget for speakers to cover honorariums and other costs for speakers who haven’t experienced this incredible 3-day intellectual feast. But the vast majority come because they know the value of FreedomFest.

C-SPAN has covered all previous FreedomFest conferences, and with good reason. Our keynote speakers are tops. They will address everyone in the Gold Room, hosted by the world’s best emcee, Chip Wood.
We have an incredible array of top-name speakers coming this year, including:
Art Laffer, a rare appearance of the Guru of Supply-Side Economics and money manager extraordinaire, will speak on “Why I Left California for Good” and “Geo-Political Investing: Is Your Portfolio Vulnerable to Attack?” Plus he will join me and Steve Moore (Wall Street Journal editorial board) on a special 3-hour seminar, “Money and Economics Today.”
We also pleased to have several business gurus speaking at FreedomFest. In addition to John Mackey of Whole Foods, we have James O’Toole (Aspen Institute) speaking on “The New American Workplace” and “Creating the Good Life,” an expert on the Aristotelian “golden mean.”
Keynote Speakers on Geo-Politics
FreedomFest would not be complete without hearing from some outstanding geo-political speakers, including special sessions on Middle East instability and cultural wars, with Dinesh D’Souza, Hoover scholar, on his new book, “The Enemy Within.” He will face Congressman Ron Paul, known on Capitol Hill as “Dr. No,” in the Big Debate on U. S. foreign policy and the war in Iraq. The sparks will fly! (George Gilder will moderate this debate.)
June Arunga, director of Youth Affairs in Kenya and a fellow with the International Policy Network in London, will speak on “The New Africa.” Larry Abraham, editor of Insider Report, will speak on “What’s wrong with Conspiracy Theory.” Larry will also join James Marsh (University of Hawaii) and Mark Tier (Hong Kong and the Philippines) to discuss the “New Asia Boom: Friend or Foes of America?"

Dare to Enter the “Debate Room”

-- “The War on Islamic Terrorism: Can It Be Won?”
World’s Top Scientists & Healthcare Experts Coming to FreedomFest
Science and technology are booming. You’ll hear from Michael Denton, M. D., microbiologist, and author of “Nature’s Destiny,” on the latest developments in DNA and evolutionary biology. Dr. Michael Shermer, columnist for Scientific American, will speak on the “New Science of Liberty” and “Why People Believe Weird Things.” (He and Denton will also square off in the debate room to discuss the future of Darwinian evolution and intelligent design.) Clive Wynn, popular bio-psychologist from University of Florida, on his new book, “Do Animals Think?”
If you’re not healthy, you’re not wealthy. So we’ve also brought to FreedomFest several health/exercise experts, including George Murdock on the exciting new “China Study” on diet, and exercise guru Harry King on “How to Live to be 100 and Enjoy It.”
